PASTURED LAMB
Sheep are the newest residents at SQ1F. Katahdin sheep were developed in the U.S. as a meat animal with lower labor requirements because they are a hair sheep, a breed of sheep that sheds its wool each year instead of needing to be sheared. They are great mothers (often having twins) and they are enjoyable to work with.
Our lambs are grass-fed which gives the meat an incredible savory-sweet flavor. They are perfect for grilling, broiling, or roasting. Like our beef, they are raised on pasture, free to forage and graze, and are rotated regularly to fresh paddocks. They are housed every evening in open air enclosures to protect them from predators. Because of the size of lambs, we sell them only as wholes. Pricing is determined by “hanging weight.” See FAQ's for pricing and more details.
